iO is an artist, activist, writer, TV host, speaker, actor and social scientist. 2016 saw the release of both iO's memoir, Darling Days (Ecco/Harper Collins), and the premier of "Suspect", a new show iO hosts on MTV with Nev Schulman (host of MTV's #1 show Catfish).
iO's TED Talk "50 Shades of Gay" was a key piece of the national discussion of gender and sexuality, and has been viewed over 2.3 million times. Godchild of photographer Nan Goldin, iO's exploration of gender has been documented and published since birth. iO's life and the Self Evident Truths project are the subjects of a documentary currently in production with Emmy Award winning Zero Point Zero Productions, Executive Produced by Anthony Bourdain.
iO was a featured contributor for T magazine for two years, and iO's work has been featured in The New York Times Magazine, New York, Brooklyn, Dossier, GQ, Elle, Bomb, HUGE, and The New Order.
iO has exhibited artwork in New York and Tokyo, and has published three limited edition photography books. iO is a public speaker, who regularly travels the country lecturing at events and schools, encouraging people to broaden their 'circle of normalcy', and expand their sphere of empathy.
