Zusammenfassung

In the fractured world of Etheria, the Gloom Blight devours all it touches-twisting vibrant cities into barren wastelands and driving survivors to the brink of madness. Amid this encroaching doom, one fragile light endures: Elara, bearer of the rare Life-Giving Spark. Prophesied as the Child of Light, Elara alone holds the power to heal the land and restore balance to a dying realm. But her gift makes her a target for those who would claim its power. Captured by merciless legions and dragged to the shadowed fortress of Nocturne, she falls into the hands of the Overlord himself: Kaeden. Ruthless and unyielding, he commands the loyalty of thousands. Yet beneath his armored resolve stirs something unforeseen: a dangerous attraction to the captive whose inner fire could save Etheria-or destroy it. Caught between captivity and conviction, Elara must navigate alliances that could turn to betrayal at any moment. As dread mingles with unwelcome desire, she struggles to reconcile her faith in goodness with the need to bargain with darkness. Her growing bond with Kaeden draws them into a war of ancient magic and awakened Hearts, where the struggle for Etheria becomes a battle for their very souls. Spark in the Dark is a romantasy of captivity, defiance, and transformation. Love demands difficult choices, magic carries a heavy cost, and hope survives in unexpected places. As Etheria falters, Elara must decide whom to trust-and how much of herself she is willing to risk. "When your jailer sees the light you hide, and you glimpse the shadows he buries-that's when enemies become the spark that ignites the heart." For fans of slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance, emotionally charged character journeys, and high-stakes fantasy where choosing love means risking everything.

Astrid Lovell was born in 1997 in Prague's Malá Strana quarter to Ukrainian parents who restored icons and Gothic interiors. She grew up among the city's towering spires and legends of the Golem, learning to see familiar streets as places where old stories linger. This heritage shaped her narrative voice and drew her to romantic fantasy, where the landscapes of Old Europe open onto hidden worlds of magic. Now living near the Vltava, Astrid writes in quiet cafés at dawn and takes evening walks through Prague to "hear the stories stones keep." Fluent in Czech, English, and German, she draws on Eastern and Western traditions to create worlds in which desire, danger, and wonder inhabit the same streets.
