a municipality in Quebec in the administrative region of
Bas-Saint-Laurent and the regional county municipality of
Rivière-du-Loup. The Bas-Saint-Laurent (Lower Saint-Lawrence) region is
located along the south shore of the lower Saint Lawrence River in
Quebec. It has a population of 200,653 (2006 census) and a land area of
22,232.11 km² (8,583.87 sq mi). Rivière-du-Loup is a county regional
municipality of Quebec in Canada. Its most important city is
Rivière-du-Loup, which contains more than half of the population of the
region. Major industries include pulp and paper, other wood products,
peat products, mineral products and textiles.
