village in County Offaly, Ireland. It is located 8 km west of Birr on
the R421 regional road. The village is situated at the foot of the
Slieve Bloom Mountains. The local Catholic church, St. Kieran's, was
built in 1900.County Offaly is one of the administrative counties of the
Republic of Ireland and one of the thirty-two traditional counties of
the island of Ireland. It is located in the province of Leinster and is
part of the administrative Midlands Region. It was formerly known as
King's County until the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922.
It was named after the ancient Kingdom of Uí Failghe.
